New Sermon – An Unnatural Prayer

We are all born with a sinful nature, and while God has rebuilt the heart and affections of His people, we still all struggle with that old sinful side at the same time.  Because of this, sometimes things such as prayer can be a challenge.  Are we praying our will, or God’s will?  Are we praying for things that are truly good, or for what our tainted vision might see as good?  When we go to our Lord’s lesson on prayer (the Lord’s Prayer found in Matthew 6) why does it feel as though it leaves out a lot of the things on our mind that day?  Important things, things we passionately care about and consider good and right?  This sermon takes a look at why praying the way Jesus taught can feel unnatural, and why it’s crucial we learn to pray His way. This topic, learning to pray by studying the Lord’s Prayer, is also the subject of my latest book “An Unnatural Prayer”.  It’s designed to read by yourself or as a study group as it has discussion questions after each chapter. If you would like a copy, send me an email at Texas.Talkback@gmail.com and I will get one sent to you in the near future. Thanks!
