Out of Town? Worship Satan!

Going out of town on business in the near future?  I have a great idea for you….worship Satan!!  While that may sound ridiculous, it is what a great many professing Christians do while away from home.  How can I possibly back up a statement like that?  Here’s how:

All too often I hear professing Christians who, while out of town, decided to go out and “tie one on” with co-workers or business partners.  Or, instead of getting drunk, they might stay at the hotel room for a little “adult entertainment”  via the pay-per-view television.  In some cases, the flirtatious relationship with business associates that had previously only been carried out over the phone, becomes much more serious when the everyone meets face-to-face at the national convention, and adultery is the result.  But I do not mean to limit this topic only to the business world.  How many Christian couples decide to have “a little fun” while on vacation?  I would suggest that there are a great many who decide that getting drunk a few times on their tropical vacation isn’t all that bad.  Or perhaps they might go to see a movie that they know is full of sex, homosexuality and profanity.  They would never consider watching such a movie at home in the flow of everyday life, but on vacation, well….okay.  It seems once away from the restraint of spouse, friends and home-town atmosphere the traveler feels the freedom to pursue what has been on their heart the whole time.  They choose to ignore where the prohibition of those things came from in the first place, that being God’s Word.  So what these things truly are, is rebellion against the Lord!

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft”    1 Samuel 15:23

Pursuing the lusts of the flesh is idolatry and rebellion against the Lord, plain and simple.  The real question is, why are those lusts still making a home in your heart?  Why are the things that God hates considered by you to be harmless vacation entertainment?  Why is “witchcraft” a vacation activity?  For the unbeliever the answer is obvious, as they are still “in the flesh”.   If these lusts are regularly found on the heart and embraced willingly in the mind, with only social constraints prohibiting them from being fulfilled, then that person is not in Christ no matter what their profession.

Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.  You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.  No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.    1 John 3:4-6

But for the believer, the true disciple of Christ, falling into sin such as this is yet another reminder that we must strive to die daily, mortifying the flesh and its’ desires, even when out of town.  How much more relaxing and pleasant a vacation can be when not burdened with the remorse and grief over a rebellious sin committed the day before!  Plan your trips, business and pleasure, so as to minimize temptation.  Pray the Lord for protection from and the strength to slay these fleshly temptations!

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.  And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.    1 John 2:15-17

Great article my friend. This is precisely why we are told to Flee Fornication. Fornication isn’t just limited to sex. But it means anything that has a sexual appearance to it, if it has the smell or look of sexual looseness, impurity then it is wrong and goes in direct rebellion of God’s word. How many so-called Christians go to Las Vegas or Palm Springs for a vacation? Yes God created the beauty of the beach but He did not create the smut that tends to smother out the God-intended beauty of the His Creation. We are commanded to avoid the very appearance of evil. There are no ands, ifs or buts with this command.
