Haha--yes, I actually did a post called The Na'vi, the Borg, and the Church". I love being a fantasy writer because it allows me to say so much about this world in ways that those who love story (our present culture) might hear. Thanks so much for your participation. Wow! That is one heck of a thread you have going there! Too much to catch up on in detail, but the thing that jumped out at me is idolatry. Everyone wants a God that they can feel right about deep down in their heart, but they are unwilling to admit that the heart is deceitfully wicked. In Emergent conversations, I am always struck by the amount of acceptance that is given to everyones views, except that of Scripture backed by sound hermaneutics. The fear of God is gone, and the psalmist is alone when he sings of his love of God’s law. But, ohhhhh do those idols feel good in my heart!
By the way, I had never really done any SciFi/Theology before reading your blog, but the first thing that popped into my mind was a correlation between the Borg and Emergence. I laughed when I saw somebody else had already made that connection on your site. Funny stuff!

Great post! Off topic again. If you have some time, I think you could add another voice of support for the gospel message over at my blog. Friday I responded to the emergent church post by writing one of my own, and it has generated a lot of conversation. I'm not keeping up with it ll, I'm afraid.
